PURE POWER: THE KTM X-BOW GT-XR WITH ITS LEGENDARY FIVE-CYLINDER ENGINE

Radical, lightweight and with unbridled power: the KTM X-BOW GT-XR1 raises the bar in the high-performance segment. At its core is the formidable 2.5-litre, five-cylinder Audi engine, which has been crowned Engine of the Year no less than nine times.

The turbocharged long-strike engine is particularly compact and lightweight while producing more power at greater efficiency than other engines in its class. With its immense power and its characteristic sound, it is a perfect match to the KTM X-BOW GT-XR’s radical philosophy. The engine provides an enormous amount of traction at low revs, and is capable of delivering a maximum of 581 Newton-metres of torque at 5,550 rpm. This gives the driver full and complete control of power delivery and the chance to savour every last drop of performance. Despite its responsive power curve and outstanding performance data, the latest KTM X-BOW model is still extremely efficient with fuel consumption of just 9.1 litres per 100 km (WLTP).

Fuel consumption combined (WLTP): 9.1 l/100 km, CO₂ emissions combined (WLTP): 214 g/km, emissions classification: EURO 6D

The 368 kW (500 hp) engine, which is installed laterally in the car, is not only the most powerful road-going five-cylinder engine in the world, it is also synonymous with motorsport pedigree. Over 45 years of racing history, the power unit has won two World Rally Championships, powered Walter Röhrl to his legendary win at Pikes Peak (USA) and scored major victories in the IMSA-GTO US touring car series.

The five-cylinder version in the new KTM X-BOW GT-XR is the latest development of this engine. Built to be as lightweight as possible, the unit tips the scales at just 160 kg – some 26 kg lighter than its predecessor model. An aluminium cylinder block, magnesium upper oil sump section and a 1.8 kg lighter crankshaft have all contributed to the weight savings. In addition, the engine is also tuned by KTM to provide an extra 70 kW (100 hp) of power and 101 Nm of torque.

The engine’s temperature management concept has been fully optimised to guarantee maximum power in any operating conditions. The engine itself and its air intake are now cooled even more efficiently thanks to a generous water and air cooler. The upgrades ensure first-class performance and an unforgettable driving experience with the KTM X-BOW GT-XR.

A seven-speed direct-shift gearbox (DSG) with a motorsport differential is on hand to deliver all of this power to the road. Thanks to the electronic control system on the transmission, gear changes take fractions of a second, keeping the engine at the best possible rpm at all times without impact on torque. The differential is responsible for optimised load distribution at the rear axle.

Not only does the power unit provide some impressive propulsion, it also delivers the kind of sound expected from a super sportscar. The flap exhaust system, which doesn’t feature a particle filter, generates a unique, throaty sound that is guaranteed to turn heads. The laser-cut stainless steel exhaust forms a trapezoid-shaped tip at the rear of the KTM X-BOW GT-XR, leaving a lasting impression on the eyes and the ears.

The new KTM X-BOW GT-XR is available immediately from EUR 299,150 (excl. local taxes and import duties). Thanks to the European small-volume production authorisation, the vehicle is available and road-legal across the continent.
