Il Campionato del mondo di Motocross FIM 2023 è arrivato sulle colline dal fondo compatto di Loket per il Gran Premio della Repubblica Ceca, e questo dodicesimo round stagionale ha visto il pilota Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Andrea Adamo rifulgere con la vittoria della seconda manche e un quinto posto assoluto. I suoi compagni di squadra Sacha Coenen e Liam Everts hanno chiuso settimo e undicesimo.
Assorbito il jet-lag del rientro dai due round indonesiani, la MXGP si lancia ora in tre weekend di gara consecutivi con i GP della Repubblica Ceca, del Belgio e di Finlandia. Si parte dalle ripide e strette traiettorie sul fondo duro di Loket, il tracciato vicino al confine tedesco che è ormai un classico della MXGP e che col suo ridotto tasso tecnico rispetto ad altre piste del Mondiale vede la partenza pesare molto sul risultato.
Andrea Adamo ha sfruttato tutte le qualità della sua KTM 250 SX-F in un sabato rovente, in cui ha fatto registrare il secondo tempo nelle prove ed è scattato benissimo allo start della manche di qualificazione RAM, per poi superare il compagno di squadra Liam Everts e andare a vincere con oltre 3,5 secondi di margine. Il successo del sabato gli ha regalato preziosi punti di campionato e la pole position.
Domenica Adamo ed Everts sono però incappati in uno sfortunato incidente di gruppo allo start di Gara1; Andrea ha cercato disperatamente di recuperare, ma è caduto di nuovo dovendo accontentarsi dell’undicesima piazza, poi retrocessa a tredicesima per aver saltato in regime di bandiere gialle. Everts ha invece chiuso diciassettesimo mentre Coenen, col suo quinto posto, ha ottenuto il miglior risultato della sua stagione. Gara2 si è avviata in modo più regolare, e Adamo è stato il più incisivo superando il suo rivale per il titolo Jago Geerts e agganciando la ruota del leader Simon Laengenfelder. Andrea è poi passato in testa a dieci minuti dal termine, andando a vincere la sua prima manche MX2 in carriera. Questo ha significato 25 punti per il detentore della tabella rossa, che ha così potuto allungare in classifica sugli inseguitori, ora tutti ad almeno 35 punti da lui. Everts ha chiuso sesto, per l’undicesimo posto di giornata, e Coenen settimo di manche e di giornata, il suo miglior risultato fin qui.
Ma Loket ha ospitato anche la tappa di campionato europeo EMX65 ed EMX85, con i talenti in erba più veloci del continente a scontrarsi fra loro. L’inglese Harry Dale con la KTM 65 SX ha vinto la seconda manche EMX65 chiudendo terzo e sul podio, mentre in EMX85 Liam Bruneau ha portato alla vittoria una KTM 85 SX in Gara1 chiudendo secondo di giornata, primo di cinque alfieri KTM nelle prime sei posizioni.
Il tradizionale contrasto tra il fondo duro di Loket e l’impalpabile sabbia di Lommel attende ora i team e i piloti mentre la MXGP si sposta verso nord, nella regione belga di Limburg per il tredicesimo round.
Andrea Adamo: “Mi sono sentito al top per tutto il weekend e sono contento del mio sabato, poi la gara però è sempre diversa e tutto può succedere. Alla fine ho vinto due gare su tre ma non sono salito sul podio! In Gara1 ho fatto il massimo per rimontare e da undicesimo mi hanno retrocesso a tredicesimo, ma le bandiere gialle non le ho proprio viste. Ovviamente mi scuso perché non è questo l’esempio che un pilota del Mondiale deve dare. In Gara2 mi sono divertito, avevo un bel feeling e un bel ritmo, ho fatto delle belle battaglie e pur facendo attenzione non avevo niente da perdere, per cui ho dato tutto e ho vinto. Sono molto felice, anche se ovviamente Lommel sarà dura come sempre, con un sacco di ragazzi veloci sulla sabbia. Anch’io però mi sono allenato parecchio quest’inverno, darò il massimo e vedremo come va!”
Sacha Coenen: “Davvero un bel weekend, anche se io vorrei stare sempre davanti! Settimo non è male, ed eravamo vicini al podio. In Gara2 sono rimasto a lungo secondo, ma ho perso terreno dopo che Andrea mi ha superato e ho saltato corto in un punto. Soprattutto ci stiamo avvicinando alla top 3, per cui sono contento. E il prossimo weekend c’è il mio GP di casa, sono carico!”
Liam Everts: “Bene la manche di qualificazione, terzo, ma allo start di Gara1 qualcuno davanti a me ha perso il posteriore e mi ha portato via la ruota davanti. Non è colpa di nessuno, ma è un peccato anche perché ho picchiato piuttosto duramente e ci ho messo del tempo a rialzarmi. Avevo perso il freno davanti, ma ho comunque raccolto qualche punto. Gara2 è andata meglio a parte un errore al primo giro, e sono riuscito a fare sesto. In generale penso che avrei potuto fare meglio, ma ora penso solo a Lommel: è la mia gara di casa, ma non sarà comunque facile!”

Andrea Adamo, 13th and 1st for 5th overall in MX2: “I was feeling strong all weekend and I was happy with how things were going yesterday but the motos are always different! Anything can happen. Mixed feelings in the end because I won two of the three races here but didn’t make the podium. In the first race I got up and did my best to reach P11 and then was penalized two positions for jumping on the yellow flags, which I did not see. I want to say sorry for that because everyone is looking at us and that was not the example I wanted to set, but I did not see them. I really enjoyed the second moto: the feeling was good, the pace was good. Some strong battles. I still needed to be careful but for the overall result I had nothing to lose, so I went straight-out for the guys. I‘m very happy. Lommel will be tough, for sure! There are a lot of guys that go fast in the sand but I trained there quite a lot this winter. I’ll try my best and fight until the end like always.”
Sacha Coenen, 5th and 7th for 7th overall in MX2: “Definitely a good weekend, even though I always want to be riding at the front! 7th was not too bad but we were close to the podium places. I was running 2nd for quite a long time in the second moto but lost some ground when Andrea past me and I came up short on a jump. I’m happy but importantly we are getting closer to the top three. My home GP next weekend and I’m excited. All the fans will be there and it will be a nice GP.”
Liam Everts, 17th and 6th for 11th overall in MX2: “A strong qualifying race and I was happy with 3rd place but someone lost the rear in front of me at the start of the first moto and took away my front wheel. It wasn’t anybody’s fault. It was just a shame, and I hit the ground pretty hard so it took a while to get up. I managed to get a few points even though my front brake was missing. I started well in the second moto and after a mistake on the first lap I worked my way up to 6th and that’s where I stayed. A bit of a shame today. I felt there was a lot more to take from this weekend but I’m looking forward to Lommel now. It is always nice to race at home but it will be a busy one!”
