THE ULTIMATE WEAPON IN THE BATTLE FOR ONE HUNDRETHS OF A SECOND

KTM X-Bow RR

KTM X-Bow RR

Horses from Maranello? Steeds from Zuffenhausen? Stars from Stuttgart? Bulls from Sant'Agata? Or rather three letters from Mattighofen? If you want to take on the best, you need to be well prepared. Tuned uncompromisingly for victory, almost limitlessly customisable, alarmingly fast for its opponents - and still surprisingly affordable. Depending on the configuration level, the "RR" can be the perfect vehicle for KTM's own one-make cup ("X-BOW BATTLE") or an extremely awkward rival for the aforementioned international competitors. Talk to the specialists from our Motorsport department, who do their best to fulfil every customer request - after all, they're always READY TO RACE as well!

01. Engine & Drivetrain

Transmission

Tried and tested in series production, but tuned optimally to the KTM X-BOW RR: The manual 6-speed gearbox from Audi always has the right gear available. The Drexler limited slip differential that comes as standard guarantees optimum propulsion in every curve.

Graph of torque

The engine achieves its maximum torque of 420 Nm at an engine speed of only 3,200 rpm – thereby making, in the truest sense of the phrase, “very light work” of the KTM X-BOW RR, which tips the scales at a mere 810 kg. The maximum power output of 360 hp is attained at 6,400 rpm.

Rear frame

The aluminium spaceframe is the central supporting element for the engine/gearbox assembly. It has been possible to lower the whole unit by 19 millimetres, thereby lowering the KTM X-BOW R’s already impressively low centre of gravity by another 15 millimetres. As a direct consequence, even greater lateral acceleration forces and even higher cornering speeds are possible.

Shift lever with waterproof boot

Sporty gear lever with water-resistant shift boot.

Racing shifter

The racing shifter delivers short and precise gear changes. Shortening the shifting movement allows better acceleration. The weight-optimised, aluminium console and the uniball-mounted gear lever guide provide the driver with ultra-precise shift-gate guidance and very accurate gear engagement.

High performance cooler

High-quality products, developed directly by KTM and manufactured in Austria: The high-performance radiators and charge-air cooler originate from WP Radiator.

Racing gearbox oil cooler

The racing gearbox oil cooler helps to keep the gearbox oil temperature at a constant level when using the KTM X-BOW in tough conditions on the racetrack. The radiator is available air cooled or coupled directly with the water cooling circuit of the engine.

Engine oil cooler extern

The engine oil cooler is a pure performance component that contributes to decreasing the load on the entire cooling circuit. The cooler is mounted externally behind the water coolers and the engine oil is transported to the cooler via a high quality motor racing feed orifice. The temperature of the engine is lowered through the external cooling of the oil in order to avoid a loss of power through high engine temperatures.

Racing water pump

The racing water pump provides for higher throughput in the charge air cooler water circuit, thereby reducing the charge air temperature considerably. This leads to an increase in power due to higher engine efficiency.

Performance pack 1

The Performance Pack 1 was especially developed for the KTM X-BOW. The pack includes lowering of the engine, an optimised drivetrain mounting and a catalytic converter with modified geometry. Lowering the engine by 19 mm lowers the vehicle’s centre of gravity. Furthermore, the torque stay is attached to the monocoque, thereby significantly reducing the effect of engine movement on handling. This makes the KTM X-BOW much smoother when changing positions of the accelerator pedal. The modified geometry requires a new catalytic converter.

Performance pack 2

The Performance Pack 2 contains a new air filter box and a chrome-molybdenum steel tubular space frame. This strengthens the rear subframe of the KTM X-BOW and increases the vehicle’s torsional stiffness considerably. The flow-optimised geometry of the carbon air filter housing increases throughput in the intake tract, thereby improving the responsiveness of the turbocharger. The new air intake system also generates a sportier intake sound.

Divert air-vlave racing

The divert-air valve consists of an aluminum housing as well as a brass piston controlled by a spring-system. The advantage of the membrane caps used in the series models is a faster closing time following every gear change and an improved sealing especially in the high boost pressure range. These properties enable a more constant charge air pressure and improvement, therefore the level of efficiency of the turbo system.

Carbon intake flange

The carbon intake flange comes in combination with the Performance Pack 2 and includes an air-mass sensor.

Racing pipe

The racing exhaust system, including 100-cell catalytic converter is FIA homologated and designed specifically for motorsport. It is 12 kg lighter than the standard exhaust system.

Racing catalytic converter

The racing catalytic converters are designed for motorsport purposes. They can be combined with all available KTM X-BOW exhaust systems.

02. Chassis

Monocoque

The KTM X-BOW is the world’s first production vehicle to boast a monocoque made completely from composite carbon fibre material – a trailblazing and pioneering technology, previously reserved exclusively for racing vehicles.

Suspension

On the front axle, the pushrod chassis - derived directly from the world of formula racing - features compression damping with high and low-speed settings as well as adjustable rebound damping. All these setting options are also available on the rear axle, although here the spring/damper unit is directly attached to the wheel mounting.

Tyres

The KTM X-BOW RR is ex works equipped with Michelin Slicks in the dimension 20/61-17 (S8L) at the front and 25/64-18 (S8L) at the rear.

Racing suspension

The racing suspension by WP is adjustable in both rebound and compression damping (high and low speed). The modified damper characteristics combined with the significant increase in damping power leads to an increased roll stiffness at the beginning and in the middle sections of corners. In addition, high-performance bearings at the connection points lead to a minimization of the slip-stick effect and support a highly precise spring action.

Springs of WP suspension

Together with chassis and test-drive guru Loris Bicocchi, WP Suspension was involved in developing the springs and dampers for the KTM X-BOW from the very beginning. This expertise and the accumulated experience with the set-up of the KTM X-BOW are perceptible in the "RR" from the very first moment.

Racing wishbone

All bushings are made of polyurethane instead of rubber. Thus not only improves the channeling, but also reduces the friction considerably. A special finish of the bearings secures their permanent greasing and free movement. The improved elasto-kinematic leads to a more precise response and a more accurate handling.

Adjustable anti-roll-bars

Adjustable anti-roll bars for the front and rear wheel suspension. Perfect for fine-tuning the vehicle to the widest variety of track requirements. Adjustable through additional bolting points. The front anti-roll bar features three and the rear bar two setting options.

AdjustablePush-Rods

The adjustable push rods allow the ground clearance of the KTM X-BOW to be changed. The reduced vehicle height lowers the X-Bow’s centre of gravity, while increasing downforce, thereby improving the maximum cornering speeds.

Central-locking wheel set

The aluminium, 5-star centrallocking wheel was especially developed for KTM. A wheel set comprises 2x R17 front wheels and 2x R18 rear wheels.

Central-locking conversion kit

Kit to convert a 5-bolt to a central-locking wheel hub.

03. Aerodynamics & Bodywork

Diffusor

Air flows optimally into the rear diffuser, which ensures distribution of pressure on the underbody thanks to its asymmetric design. It generates a large part of the downforce.

Underbody

One look underneath the KTM X-BOW RR reveals the three-piece, completely flat, racing underbody derived from formula racing vehicles.

Bonnets

The view from the front also surprises with an incredible look: The narrow headlamp surrounds and the bonnets, which are attached over the front splitter at a striking angle, make the whole front end of the KTM X-BOW RR appear even brawnier.

Aerodynamic package 4

The aerodynamics pack 4 contains of an front-splitter extension, two flicks/fences which are mounted on the front-hoods as well as two gurneys for the underfloor. This combination leads to a significant increase of downforce on the front-axle.

Performance air outtake

The performance air outlet increases the cooling air mass flow at the intercooler as well as at the engine cooler and it increases the thermal performance for approximately 2 kW.

Wheel covers

The fenders, which are made from synthetic material, are optimised in terms of aerodynamics.

Fender gurneys

The fender gurneys are mounted on top of the front fender and compensate the fenders uplift, which results in a more stable aerodynamic balance on the front axle.

Racing rear wing

The racing rear wing is both a technical and a visual enhancement to the KTM X-BOW and has a special aerodynamic design. The rear wing and the special attachment for its mounting are made of aliuminum in order to guarantee maximum rigidity with low weight.
