STRONG START OF THE CUP ON THE NORDSCHLEIFE: TEAM MCCHIP-DKR WINS AND BREAKS INTO THE TOP 15!

  • The “KTM X-BOW CUP powered by MICHELIN” was finally able to start the season
  • Strong first appearance of the new KTM X-BOW GTX in a field of 145 participants
  • Team McChip-DKR ("Dieter Schmidtmann", Heiko Hammel, Tim Heinemann) wins

The new KTM X-BOW GTX continues to cause sensations. With the weather finally playing along this weekend, the second round of the “Nürburgring Langstrecken Serie”, or NLS, could be held. No fewer than 147 teams were entered, 20 of them in the GT3 class SP9. The KTM Cup class "CupX" was well-staffed with seven cars, four entries were done for the new KTM X-BOW GTX, three entries were made for the proven KTM X-BOW GT4.

In the end, six KTM X-BOWs started the qualifying on Saturday morning, in which the True Racing KTM X-BOW GTX of Reinhard Kofler/Christian Menzel conquered the fastest lap of the CupX and 20th place overall with a time of 8:16.028 min. from Kofler. Just a bit further back, the Teichmann Racing KTM X-BOW GTX (Timo Mölig/Daniel Bohr/Reinhard Kofler) came in on 23rd place, followed by the KTM X-BOW GTX from McChip-DKR with "Dieter Schmidtmann", Heiko Hammel and Tim Heinemann on 28th place. The fastest KTM X-BOW GT4 was driven by Georg Griesemann/Maik Rönnefarth and Yves Volte in position 66, followed by Tamino Bergmeier/Mads Siljehaug/Felix von der Laden in position 68 and Stephan Brodmerkel/Karl-Heinz Teichmann/Michael Mönch in position 88.

In the 4-hour race, the new KTM X-BOW GTX with Kofler/Menzel, "Schmidtmann"/Hammel/Heinemann and Mölig/ Bohr/Kofler set a stunning pace right away and worked their way forward with strong lap times. Tim Heinemann sticked to Reinhard Kofler's heels, and when race control penalized the Austrian with a rather cruel stop-and-go penalty due to a premature start, the McChip-DKR KTM X-BOW GTX took the lead, which he didn’t give up anymore until the finish line. So, the crew around Danny Kubasik got a well-deserved victory in the KTM X-BOW CUP powered by MICHELIN at their very first outing with the new car, at the same time the team from Mechernich took a sensational 15th place overall, even in front of a few GT3 Teams. In general, the GTX cars were strong: Christian Menzel brought the True Racing car to the finish line in 16th overall and the Teichmann GTX achieved a top 20 position with 18th place as well! The fastest KTM X-BOW GT4 from Teichmann Racing came home 32nd overall, so Georg Griesemann, Maik Rönnefarth and Yves Volte can took maximum points here. Stephan Brodmerkel, Karl-Heinz Teichmann and Michael Mönch took 75th place and also the Permit-B KTM X-BOW GT4 from Tamino Bergmeier, Mads Siljehaug and Felix von der Laden crossed the finish line in 114th place despite fighting some technical issues throughout the race.
