GRID PACKED WITH KTM X-BOW POWER: GROWING PRESENCE IN FANATEC GT2 EUROPEAN SERIES

Interest in the KTM X-BOW GT2 in the Fanatec GT2 European Series is high: For 2023, the likes of RTR Projects and the reigning champion Nicolas Saelens have both opted to run KTM machinery. The official series test in Dijon, France, offered an important chance to prepare for the new season.

“The car felt amazing and the test in Dijon was extremely valuable to us, in a variety of different ways,” said Saelens, who took the title in the series last year and chose to move to the KTM X-BOW GT2 for 2023. “We were able to test the car in dry conditions and also on a wet track. I have always been a fan of the KTM X-BOW GT2 and the testing has so far only confirmed my impression: plenty of power, fantastic brakes and an excellent transmission are what make this car special.”

Saelens’ teammate will be last year’s championship runner-up Stefan Rosina. The pair will be racing one of three KTM X-BOW GT2 entered by True Racing by Reiter Engineering. The team’s effort also includes Klaus Angerhofer and Sehdi Sarmini in the #16 car, and Hubert Trunkenpolz and Reinhard Kofler in the #17.

When the new season kicks off at Monza in Italy from 21 to 23 April, RTR Projects will be on the Fanatec GT2 European Series grid for the first time. The customer racing team from Brno, Czech Republic, is expanding its KTM X-BOW programme by moving to the more powerful GT2 version of the car, building on their previous experiences with the KTM X-BOW GT4.

The Fanatec GT2 European Series takes in a total of six race weekends in 2023, each featuring two races. As in 2022, the series is back at the Red Bull Ring in Styria for round two on the weekend of 26 and 27 May. Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portugal (22 to 23 July) is a new stop on the calendar.
