Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Josep Garcia has won the 2024 FIM EnduroGP World Championship following a dominant ride on day one in France. Taking seven test wins out of a possible nine today, the KTM 250 EXC-F racer secured the victory in style to clinch his first ever EnduroGP world title with a day to spare.
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Chase Sexton won the second 450SMX moto and claimed P2 overall in Playoff 2 of the 2024 SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) post-season at Texas Motor Speedway, as teammate Tom Vialle finished second in the 250SMX Class. Both are in title contention entering next weekend's SMX Final.
After setting the pace in Free Practice on Friday, Sexton qualified his KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION fourth in Fort Worth. Moto 1 saw the reigning Pro Motocross Champion sprint to P4, but he was saving his best until last when he took a commanding second moto victory with a winning margin of 9.897s. That placed him second on the podium, and with triple points on offer in Las Vegas, Sexton sits one point outside of the series lead in what will be a winner-takes-all scenario next Saturday night.
Chase Sexton: "Getting a start is one of the key factors, but we actually made a change right before Moto 1 and I felt like I rode pretty well, but was just way back. In Moto 2, I got a good start and was able to ride my own laps – I felt like I did back in Pro Motocross. It was a good race, we ended up second overall, so we will try to keep building and come out swinging for Vegas!"
Still managing the effects of his crash from Charlotte one week ago, 450SMX teammate Aaron Plessinger was eighth in combined qualifying, and then went on to record 9-7 scores for seventh overall in a gritty performance from 'The Cowboy'. Plessinger is currently ranked fifth in the premier class title race with one round to go, motivated to finish on a strong note at the SMX Final.
Aaron Plessinger: "Second playoff of SMX went okay – I rode my outdoor suspension on this one and it was a little soft. I got off to a pretty bad start in the first one, was working my way up, and jumped off the track, so finished ninth. In the second one, I got a really good start, was running up front and my shoulder started feeling it, and I ended up dropping back to seventh. Not where we want to be, but we will try to improve a little bit for Vegas and the final round."
Texas saw current 250SX East Champion Tom Vialle rebound for his first 250SMX podium of the year in second overall onboard the KTM 250 SX-F FACTORY EDITION. After qualifying in position six – within a second of the fastest lap time – Vialle finished third in Moto 1, then charged to a confidence-inspiring second as the checkered flag flew in the final encounter. He is now P2 in the standings, 19 points outside of the lead entering Las Vegas.
Tom Vialle: "We are happy with the result today. The track was not easy – the same for everyone, of course – but I kept pushing until the very end. In the final moto, I was catching Haiden [Deegan] a little bit, but came up short. It was nice to be in the fight and it was a good race to get us ready for next weekend."
Last weekend saw rookie Julien Beaumer earn a first-career podium and he backed that up with P5 this weekend at SMX Playoff 2. While not entirely satisfied with his result, it was another promising performance from the teenager, as consistent 5-6 results placed him inside the top five overall. Beaumer is also positioned fifth in the championship tally, eager to finish strongly at next weekend's decider.
Julien Beaumer: "It was a tough day for me. I never really had the feeling I was looking for on this track, but P5 was a good result. We got a little bit better in that second moto, so not my best day, but fifth on a weekend that I didn't feel too good, we will take that and be ready to fight going into Vegas."

KTM has widened and solidified their KTM MXGP Academy: the structure to help promising teenage racing talent make their way into MXGP and the FIM Motocross World Championship. The factory has confirmed agreements for the 2025 season and coming years with Racestore KTM Factory Rookies, Gabriel SS24 KTM Factory Juniors and Van Venrooy KTM Racing for the tiers of EMX European Championship competition and the route into Grand Prix.
The opening Playoff round of the 2024 SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) saw Red Bull KTM Factory Racing riders Chase Sexton and Julien Beaumer both land valuable podium results at zMAX Dragway in Charlotte, with Sexton continuing to hold the 450SMX red plate.
Newly-crowned Pro Motocross 450MX Champion Sexton rode his KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION to the third-fastest time in qualifying while working his way back into the hybrid environment of SMX, and then finished fourth in the opening moto. He improved to P3 in the second moto, which secured him third position on the podium. As a result, he now holds a four-point advantage in the post-season standings.
Chase Sexton: "We definitely have a lot to improve on. It felt a little bit like a re-run of Chicago last year – I was trying super-hard, but wasn't really going that fast. I've gotta find some more comfort, but these guys are riding really well, so we have to get better. We have two more rounds, the ones that really count because this one was just single points, and then we go into double points and triple points, so we will be trying to improve to really capitalize at that last race."
Charlotte was a mixed day out for 450SMX Class teammate Plessinger after feeling the effects of a heavy crash during Friday practice. Still, he qualified in 10th and then charged to a convincing sixth in Moto 1. The Cowboy had to settle for 11th in the final moto of the weekend after crashing in the early stages, which positioned him P8 overall, and he's currently ranked sixth in the SMX title race.
Aaron Plessinger: "Charlotte was quite the struggle. I had a practice crash on Friday, which left my shoulder a little sore, and then today I felt pretty good. First moto, I got a pretty good start and made some passes, so ended up sixth. In the second moto, I was in good position again, but slid out and got up in last. I worked my way back up to 11th, so overall, we're leaving in one piece and we'll see what Texas brings!"
250SMX saw Beaumer race to a breakout first-career professional podium, courtesy of a 2-4 scorecard. After qualifying in third position on his KTM 250 SX-F FACTORY EDITION, he powered to the holeshot and led a large portion of the opening moto on his way to P2. The teenager was up front again in the second race, finishing fourth, which placed him on the podium in second overall and elevated him to P5 in points.
Julien Beaumer: "Getting good starts like that and leading those laps is very important for confidence. After the first moto I felt good, just made too many mistakes in those early laps of the second one, but I was happy with the result. I'm very excited to be up here on the podium, so I'm looking forward to Dallas next!"
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing teammate Tom Vialle – the reigning AMA Supercross 250SX East Champion – qualified in eighth position and then raced to fourth in the first moto. A P7 result in the final outing placed him fifth overall, which was a solid way to commence his post-season, and he sits third in the SMX standings.
Tom Vialle: "I went 4-7 today – my starts were really bad – so I finished fifth overall. I'm still third in the championship and we all know that the next couple of races are most important with double and triple points available, so we will come out swinging next week."

The final month of the 2024 FIM Motocross World Championship began with the trip to Afyon and the Grand Prix of Turkey, round 18 of 20 in the series and before rushes to China and Spain to close the series.
