01. Engine

Drivetrain

Boasting 8,3 kW of nominal output, 19,2 kW peak power, more than 37 Nm of torque and top speed of 95 km/h the engine is resolute water and dustproof unit that is fully integrated into the overall character and agility of the motorcycle.

Display

The KTM FREERIDE E uses the same LCD dashboard as the KTM EXC enduro range. The resistant display shows a single value at a time to ensure the rider remains fully focused on the route ahead. Thanks to quick contact with two buttons, the options can be cycled. The options are the state of charge, the selected ride mode, and a regenerative map with odometer, clock, trip time, and accumulated run time.

Ride Modes

The KTM FREERIDE E has three ride modes that suit specific scenarios or performance parameters. Each setting changes the torque and power delivery. Three recuperation settings can be engaged to assist with maximum engine efficiency and battery life: OFF, MID, and HIGH. These can be selected against a specific mode to ensure flexibility with the power package of the KTM FREERIDE E. The ergonomic four-button switch cube on the left handlebar can easily activate the ride modes and other options.

Frame

KTM prioritized light feeling and handling, as well as agility, of the KTM FREERIDE E and developed a chassis with the drivetrain and battery at the load-bearing core for a low center of gravity experience. By hinging the chrome-molybdenum steel frame on the engine and battery architecture, the chassis can remain featherweight and slim. The KTM FREERIDE E's seat height is 910 mm.

Suspension

Thanks to 43 mm WP XACT split design forks, the front end is reactive but also glued and planted when needed. Adjustment is easily made with the single air pressure valve, supplied air pump for preload, and clickers for compression and rebound. The fully adjustable WP XPLOR PDS system provides 250 mm of travel on the rear end.

Brakes

BRAKTEC systems deliver fantastic results with a 260 mm front disc and 220 mm on the rear. Mounting of both front and rear brakes on the NEKEN handlebars is one of the key differences from other motorcycles in the KTM portfolio. The ability to operate both forms of stopping power with two hands allows the user to concentrate more on body stance and foot position.

Battery

The 29kg MX50 Lithium-Ion battery has been tested and proven in the most extreme conditions and constructed in a way that means it is interchangeable. Removal from the motorcycle can be performed easily and in less than 10 minutes. The battery is IP67-rated, and its capacity is 5,5 kWh. Nominal voltage registers around the 50 V mark, and the battery life can withstand more than 1000 charge cycles before dipping to 80% SoH. Typical Enduro riding time is estimated to be between 2 and 3 hours.

Charger

The KTM FREERIDE E comes with a 660 W charger and will complete a full charge in 8 hours with a normal household supply. 20-80% rate can be achieved between 4-5 hours.

Safety

In the case of a tip-over, the KTM FREERIDE E is equipped with a 'roll-over' sensor that cuts the power when tipped over.
