TRIUMPHANT AT SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS: PODIUM CLEAN SWEEP & AM CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE FOR KTM X-BOW GT2!

  • KTM X-BOW GT2 delivers strong performance in the Fanatec GT2 European Series
  • Ardennes roller coaster stage for KTM X-BOW GT2 debut victory
  • Early championship title for Swiss KTM pilot Christoph Ulrich and Sportec

The second race of the weekend at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium will live long in the memory at KTM. Sehdi Sarmini and Stefan Rosina (True Racing) prevailed against the assembled competition of Audi, Porsche, and Lamborghini, wrapping up the maiden victory for a KTM X-BOW GT2 in the SRO-organised series. The pair had secured pole position for the race after an excellent qualifying performance.

In overall second place, Swiss driver Christoph Ulrich crossed the finish line after having already managed to clinch third and thus a podium in Saturday’s run. The Sportec Motorsport driver crowned himself winner of the Am class in both races. Due to his outstanding performance in Belgium, Ulrich managed to gather enough points to secure an early championship victory in his class. Ahead of the season finale at Le Castellet, he holds an unassailable lead at the top of the Am championship table.

Kris Rosenberg and motorsport legend Hans-Joachim Stuck completed a fantastic clean sweep of the podium for KTM. The pair had signalled their intentions for the weekend with a strong fourth-place finish in race one but were able to go one better on Sunday. Hubert Trunkenpolz and Klaus Angerhofer (True Racing) finished sixth and ninth respectively. Michael Bleekemolen and Peter Kox were forced to retire due to an on-track incident – Bleekemolen walking away from the crash unscathed.

“I am delighted to see that the KTM X-BOW GT2s were able to impressively prove their potential on a circuit as demanding and legendary as Spa-Francorchamps,” said Hubert Trunkenpolz, Executive Board member of KTM AG. “On the one hand, we celebrated a threefold success in the second round with Sarmini and Rosina at the top. On the other, we were able to dominate the Am class. That only demonstrates how well the KTM X-BOW GT2 works. Congratulations go out to Sportec Motorsport and Christoph Ulrich for their early Am class championship victory!”
