KTM partners up with Thor & Parts Canada for the 2016 CMRC MX Nationals

KTM Canada, Inc. is really excited to announce a new partnership with Thor and Parts Canada as title sponsors of its 2016 MX National race team.

The KTM Thor Racing Team will welcome the returning Canadian duo of Kaven Benoit and Cole Thompson to compete in the 2016 CMRC MX National Series.

After winning back to back MX2 championships, 27 year old Kaven Benoit will be introducing his determined style to the MX1 class. Riding the new 2016 KTM 450SX-F Factory Edition model, Benoit enters the MX1 class with high expectations. As with any rookie moving up to the premiere category, there are bound to be a few growing pains. However, with Benoit’s sound work ethic and multiple years of championship winning experience, his transition to MX1 should be undoubtedly successful.

“I’ve been working very hard all winter long down in South Carolina and I’m feeling very good on my new KTM 450SX-F. I know I will be lining up with a lot of talented riders when the series begins on June 5th, but with two MX2 titles to my credit, I feel like I bring some very good experience to the starting gate. I once again have a great team behind me, so hopefully 2016 will be another very successful one.”

Just as it was in 2015, Benoit’s teammate will be the fast racer from Brigden, ON, Cole Thompson. Thompson quickly proved that he was ready to race last year by winning round 2 of the 2015 series in the MX1 class. Even though he is just 22 years of age, Thompson brings a wealth of experience with him to the track. One major change in Thompson’s program this summer is that he will be racing in the highly competitive MX2 class. With a big #4 on his 2016 KTM 250SX-F Factory Edition, Thompson will be in search of his very first professional Canadian National Championship.

“Even though we’re still a few months away from the beginning of the Nationals, I couldn’t be more excited to get going. I really enjoyed racing Supercross on the West Coast, but now my focus will be solely on winning the MX2 class this summer. I’m very excited to be working with Thor again and will be ready to race for the opening round in Kamloops.”

With an anticipated ten rounds ahead of them, there is no doubt that it is going to be a summer to remember for the Orange crew. KTM Thor Racing Team Manager Jean-Sébastien Roy could not be more excited for the 2016 season to begin. “Our newly formed partnership with Thor and Parts Canada will give our riders a chance to shine in the 2016 Thor gear line up, just as Marvin Musquin in the USA right now. We are still working hard and may have a few more big announcements in the near future as we begin our countdown to Kamloops.”
