La idea detrás del primer modelo de cuatro ruedas de KTM
Todo lo que hacemos en KTM se orienta hacia la COMPETICIÓN. Para nuestro primer coche deportivo, hemos aplicado el mismo enfoque que hemos venido utilizando siempre con nuestras motocicletas orientadas a la competición.
El concepto se centra en dar cabida a aquellos elementos que añaden potencia y rendimiento al vehículo prescindiendo de todo lo demás. Reunimos a los mejores proveedores de los componentes necesarios y usamos los materiales más fuertes, ligeros y avanzados que existen.
El chasis ha sido desarrollado por los especialistas italianos en coches deportivos de Dallara y por los expertos en componentes de Wethje. KTM Technologies y nuestro socio de motores Audi han puesto a punto la potencia y WP ha creado un sistema de suspensión que permite una conducción y agilidad de giro extraordinarias.
El primer coche en producción del mundo con monocasco fabricado íntegramente en compuesto de carbono. Fabricado por los especialistas en fibra de carbono de Wethje, el monocasco solo pesa 80 kg y presenta unos niveles de seguridad excepcionales. Cuenta con una aerodinámica procedente de la competición en monoplaza que ha sido desarrollada por KTM Technologies y Dallara. Es capaz de desarrollar 100 kg de fuerza de sustentación a 200 km/h, permitiendo un total de 2 G de aceleración lateral, superior a cualquier coche homologado para la vía pública.
El que probablemente sea el coche superdeportivo más emocionante de nuestra era se ha fabricado en solo 18 meses. El KTM X-BOW debe gran parte de su carácter único a su extraordinario diseño. Gerald Kiska y el equipo de KISKA han creado un moderno coche deportivo que resulta icónico por su diseño. Uno que combina armónicamente la forma con la función.
La competición está presente en cada centímetro del KTM X-BOW. El motor Audi TFSI de 2,0 litros y 300 cv usa la inyección directa combinando los beneficios de la turbocompresión con un radiador del aire de sobrealimentación muy eficiente. Gracias a un concepto modular típico de la competición, su reparación es fácil y relativamente económica. Mientras el monocasco no sufra daños por un impacto, cualquier otra pieza dañada se puede desmontar con facilidad y ser sustituida con facilidad. La tecnología de suspensión y neumáticos de Michelin, desarrollada en la Fórmula 1, la suspensión de WP, con altura ajustable y ajustes a baja velocidad, así como la amortiguación en la extensión permiten un manejo excepcional.
La nueva versión GT del coche superdeportivo austriaco presenta una estampa más ancha, baja, compacta y poderosa. La versión con parabrisas y capota resulta pura, radical e inspirada en la competición al 100 %. El KTM X-BOW se viene fabricando desde junio de 2008 en una planta situada en la ciudad austriaca de Graz, construida específicamente para este propósito. Es una de las factorías más modernas del mundo para la fabricación de vehículos de serie limitada y se construyó en cuestión de meses ajustándose a los estándares más modernos.
KTM ha desarrollado un ingenioso sistema de almacenamiento, una logística especial para el transporte (incluyendo contenedores de transporte especialmente diseñados para piezas valiosas de fibra de carbono) y tecnologías especiales de ensamblaje.
Obviamente, los clientes y las partes interesadas están invitados a visitarnos siempre que quieran en Graz, ya sea para adquirir nuevas piezas o para informarse de todo lo que hay que saber sobre el KTM X-BOW. La versión para carreras extremas en circuitos cerrados del KTM X-BOW
Aprovechando al máximo el reglamento más reciente de la categoría GT4, la plataforma del ya homologado KTM X-BOW se ha adaptado especialmente para GT4, una categoría de competición en circuitos cerrados emocionante, asequible y accesible.
La competición es muy exigente. Un diseño modular, puro y orientado a la competición permite sustituir las piezas de forma más fácil, rápida y económica.
Se mantiene la plataforma del motor turboalimentado de 2 litros TFSI, ya existente en el KTM X-BOW, generando casi 320 cv. También cuenta con una caja de cambios secuencial Holinger de 6 velocidades con levas de cambio integradas en el volante.
La distancia entre ejes es ligeramente superior a la del X-BOW original para obtener mayor precisión de maniobra en competición y una mejora general de la aerodinámica.
Se han usado compuestos de alta tecnología en todo el vehículo. Por todo el vehículo se han empleado un monocasco de fibra de carbono, paneles de carrocería y componentes específicos para la competición.
La joven promesa Naomi Schiff estará a los mandos del KTM X-BOW GT4 de Reiter Engineering en su debut en la GT4 European series.

The Reiter Young Stars is the only program for up-and- coming young drivers in which industry partners (the sponsors) bring together marketing students, engineering students and young drivers who all jointly profit from the experience. The industry partners have an international advertising platform, which includes live TV and extensive media coverage, and also have access to more than 300,000 European students. The students in the program engage in an autonomous and very practical training with numerous additional workshops, while the drivers take part in an international GT motor racing series – all for only about €65,000. They compete with the KTM X-BOW GT4, currently the most modern and safest racing car in the world. What awaits the fastest male and female driver in the series is a fully financed season in the cockpit of a GT3 in the Blancpain GT Sprint Series.
The VLN (Veranstaltergemeinschaft Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring") is probably the most successful popular racing series, which, since 1977 has been run on the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife. Different drivers, from amateur to professional, compete against each other in various classes in assorted vehicles ranging from series model touring cars to purebred prototype racing cars. The races last four hours, or in one exceptional case, for six hours, and are run on the Nordschleife in combination with the sprint section of the Grand Prix circuit over a 24,433 kilometer- long lap. In 2017, from the third race of the VLN racing series, there is an individual class called the “KTM X-BOW CUP powered by MICHELIN for the KTM X-BOW GT4. The competition offers attractive prizes during the season, and especially for the overall winner at the season’s end.
The "Creventic 24HSeries" came about as a result of the highly successful Dubai 24- hour race and has been launched on different racetracks worldwide. The emphasis is on Europe, and particularly on long-distance races over 12 or 24 hours. The field of starters can include everything from TCR touring cars to GT3 vehicles, which compete in different classes. The races sometimes have up to 100 starters. The KTM X-BOW GT4 is able to compete in a range of classes, depending on the BOP ("Balance of Performance"), and in recent years has won in some classes, picked up podium places and has also achieved impressive top 10 results in the midst of a GT3 cars field.
The biggest and the most successful one-brand racing series in Europe has been bringing KTM X-BOW owners together at racing circuits since 2008. There they have the opportunity to compete against each other in the world’s most spectacular and fastest lightweight super sports car. In the meantime, in addition to the “Elite Class”, which is contested by the 360-hp KTM X-BOW RR models, there are two other racing series: a stand-alone “GT4” class with – nomen est omen - the KTM X-BOW GT4, and the entry-level “Rookies Challenge” series. Six X-BOW BATTLE events are held on Central Europe’s most beautiful circuits, with up to 60 vehicles per race weekend starting in the various classes.
Fair, transparent and cost-effective motor sport: The X-BOW Rookies Challenge offers the perfect platform for newcomers, amateurs and junior drivers to compete in one of the most attractive and safest racing cars in the world. The price for the complete package, which includes all expenses such as registration fees, tires, fuel, wear parts, support, preparation and follow-up, and the transport of a total of 20 identical vehicles, is sensational: from just € 25,000 (net, excluding insurance). With this, it is possible to take part in a total of 12 races on six different event weekends, and there is even a chance to compete in a one-hour endurance race at each event.
North America’s biggest and most popular GT racing series is not only cooperating with the SRO, but has also set up with its own GTS-class a GT4 racing series. Races are in accordance with the rules (and the BOP) of the SRO Motorsports Group, and drivers contest two races each competition weekend. The Mantella Autosport and ANSA Motorsports teams won numerous podiums and also victories in the very first season in which the KTM X-BOW GT4 was able to start. ANSA driver Brett Sandberg even took the championship title in the "Pirelli World Challenge" at the end of the season, driving his KTM X-BOW GT4.
They say every beginning is difficult. But it doesn’t have to be because the KTM X- BOW is perfect for taking the first step into motor racing, or for sports driving on a circuit. On the one hand, the running costs during track time are limited due to the low weight and the clever conceptual design of this purebred racing vehicle. On the other, KTM offers numerous cost-effective opportunities to sample the world of motorsport. There are Track Days with half-hour turns that are organized directly by KTM, and the somewhat pepped up ‘Artbauer Race Days’ club sport races. It is also possible to compete with the KTM X-BOW on Austria’s Red Bull Ring at the "WISBI Don’t Crack Under Pressure Challenge", or in Austria’s biggest amateur race in both summer and winter with event organizers ‘razoon - more than racing’.
