ADAC MX ACADEMY POWERED BY KTM LAUNCHED IN MUNICH

published at 20.03.2013 / created by Marcia Hill

Capitalizing on the ‘Ken Roczen’ effect and Germany’s team great success at the Motocross of Nations in 2012, ADAC, hosts of premium racing series, and KTM leaders in the manufacture of sports motorcycles have launched the "ADAC MX Academy powered by KTM".

The Academy offers children between the ages of 6-14 years an easy and safe entry into the sport of motocross at a time when it is enjoying a boom in Germany.

"With the ADAC MX Academy powered by KTM we have the possibility to bring young riders into this fascinating sport with very professional leadership and technical support,” says Pit Beirer, Head of KTM Motorsport. A special Quick Stop switch is fitted to all models of the 50 children’s bikes provided – 50 ccm, 65 ccm and 85 ccm models – and this is connected to the wrist, or to the trainer. Safety of the children is the most important issue for these introductory courses that start in May under the motto of “Sport is more than football – ride motocross”.

ADAC Sport president Hermann Tomczyk confirmed Germany’s boom in MX, fuelled by Ken Roczen’s World Championship title and the success of the national team. “So we can sustain this success we have to achieve the basis for it in the future. This is the reason that ADAC has launched the MX Academy.”

The ADAC Motocross Academy offers courses for children from 6-14 years throughout Germany through the ADAC Regional Clubs at the following locations: Frankenthal (ADAC Pfalz), Reutlingen (ADAC München), Spremberg (ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg), Wilnsdorf (ADAC Westfalen) and Teutschenthal (ADAC Niedersachsen/Sachsen-Anhalt).

The Academy has acquired the services of former professionals Dietmar Lacher and Bernd Eckenbach. A training day costs 25 euros includes the use of a complete set of protective clothing, the KTM motorcycle and a BMX bike for practice. The courses take place on the MX tracks of the various ADAC local clubs.
