RED BULL KTM FACTORY RACING

2012 was another landmark year for the Red Bull Factory Racing team when KTM again surpassed their former achievements picking up the MX1 MX2 and MX3 World Championship title, a string of Manufacturer’s titles and other Junior World Championship titles. With Ken Roczen moving to the US factory team the way was open for young Dutch rider Jeffrey Herlings to take his first MX2 World Championship. In doing so, the Dutch teenager fulfilled team boss Stefan Everts’ prediction that he was mature and experienced enough to take the title.
Herlings continued to deliver spectacular performances in 2012, particularly on sand where he universally recognized as the most outstanding rider on this surface. His main challenger in MX2 in 2012 was Tommy Searle but with the British rider moving up to MX1 in 2013 the way is open for Herlings to defend his title on the KTM 250 SX-F factory bike. Young French rider Jordi Tixier again joins Herlings in the factory team. Tixier went into the 2012 season aiming for a top ten in the championship and finished in a very creditable fifth place.
