CASELLI IMPRESSES CROWD AT HARE AND HOUND OPENING ROUND
published at 01/25/2011
FMF/KTM rider Kurt Caselli impressed the crowd by leading the opening round of the AMA Hare and Hound Series in Lucerne Valley from the start to approximately one mile before the finish where he suffered a mechanical problem and pushed his bike to the finish line to salvage a remarkable 5th place result.
Caselli didn’t get the best jump off the start but the power of his KTM 450 XC-F shot him to the front at the end of the bomb. Caselli was leading the first loop with a 10 second lead over the next closest competitor, David Pearson, when they came to the gas stop. Caselli continued to charge out front eventually pulling to a minute lead on Pearson. With a little over a mile to go Caselli suffered a mechanical problem that caused his bike to seize. Never giving up, Caselli pushed his bike over a mile to the finish line to cross in an impressive 5th place overall.
“I was really looking forward to taking a win here today and felt good all day. It’s too bad that I had a mechanical problem at the end of the race, but that’s part of racing and we will figure out what the issue was and make sure we are 100% prepared for the next round. I plan to race the entire Hare and Hound Series this year so there are many other opportunities to finish up front,” remarked Caselli.
