RED BULL KTM FACTORY RACING
The Red Bull Factory Racing Team MX2 riders delivered a spectacular season in 2013, with the combination of Dutch rider Jeffrey Herlings and Jordi Tixier of France finishing 1-2 in the World Championship, to also give KTM a comfortable win in the Manufacturer’s title with the KTM 250 SX-F.
Herlings competed in 15 of the 17 GPs – he was out of action through injury in the other two – and won every race he entered except the second moto in the Brazil GP, where he finished second. 2013 was also a year where Herlings developed into a mature and spectacular rider capable of winning on all terrain. He is however still widely considered to be the best rider in modern competition on sand.
Tixier also matured in 2013 to be a worthy opponent to his teammate and delivered a strong season to finish second to Herlings on the overall points, a considerable step up from his fifth place overall in the previous season. KTM’s MX2 riders remain under the guidance and management of the very experienced Stefan Everts, himself a 10-times world champion in motocross.
