Red Bull/KTM rider Taddy Blazusiak returned to his winning ways to claim victory in the fourth round of the AMA EnduroCross Series held at the Citizens Business Bank Arena, Ontario, California.
The afternoon started out well for both Red Bull KTM’s Taddy Blazusiak and Factory FMF/KTM rider Mike Brown. Blazusiak turned the fastest time in the qualifying hot laps while Brown was second fastest so both had first choice of gate preferences for their evening heats.
Brown was up first in the second Pro heat. He jumped off the line in third but an early crash in the matrix cost him positions and he finished third. He was one spot shy of qualifying and had to regroup to return for the semi race. Meanwhile Blazusiak launched off second in the third heat immediately took the lead, distanced himself from the rest of the field and too the win for an easy transfer to the main event.
Brown grabbed the holeshot in his semi then a crash set him back. He made a quick recovery into second but was again one position short of qualifying but then dominated the LCQ to transfer to the main event.
Blazusiak was ready to show the crowd his good form in the main and grabbed the holeshot while Brown was in the middle of the pack. Then Blazusiak lost the lead to Cody Webb after a small mistake in the woodpile but stuck to Webb’s wheel and grabbed the lead back in the next lap. From then on he concentrated on pulling a gap on Webb and went on to take the win. Brown, who struggled on the start of the race was seventh at the flag.
“We are very happy to see Taddy get back to the top podium spot,” said Factory FMF/KTM Team Manager Antti Kallonen. “Taddy rode a fast and smart race today to put his KTM out front. Unfortunately, Brown struggled today but was able to still gain some points in the series.”
Blazusiak leads the championship standings ahead of Webb while Brown is third overall going into the next event at Denver, CO on October 6, 2012.
