KTM PICKS UP FOUR WORLD TITLES AT 2012 FIM JUNIOR MX WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS!

published at 26.08.2012 / created by Marcia Hill

Young riders from all over the world met this weekend in Sevlievo, Bulgaria for the 2012 FIM World Junior Motocross Championships and KTM came away with four world titles to add to the brand’s collection.

Australian KTM rider Caleb Grothues and Tim Gajser of Slovenia won the 65 cc and 125 cc classes. The two titles also added two more manufacturers’ world titles to the company honors list!

The 65 cc title was virtually a sure thing for the Austrian manufacturer with the field of starters virtually all on the characteristic Orange, ‘Made in Austria’ machines. But it was the young Australia Grothues who came out on top, with his teammate Riley Dukes taking second and Romanian Robert-Crisztian Tompa in third place. Grothus and Dukes were 1-2 in each of the races on the popular Bulgarian circuit.

KTM rider Davy Pootjes of the Netherlands finished on the 85 cc podium in third place as the best KTM rider, following on from winning the European 85 cc title at Matterley Basin last weekend. KTM factory rider Jorge Garcia Prado of Spain, who was last year’s 65 cc World Champion did not start as he was hospitalized for several days following a crash in the European title fight last weekend.

The 125 title went to Slovenia’s Tim Gajser to add to his European title in the class from last weekend while Pauls Jonass of Latvia gave KTM another podium when he finished in third. Jonass was last year’s 85 cc World Champion and is, like Jorge Prado, a KTM factory rider.
