    BLAZUSIAK WINS SUPERENDURO AT BARCELONA!

published at 10.02.2013 / created by Marcia Hill

Red Bull KTM Factory rider Taddy Blazusiak made a successful return to racing after injury taking two of three finals in Barcelona on Sunday night at Round 2 of the FIM SuperEnduro Championships to win on the night and extend his lead in the championships.

Taddy Blazusiak took overall victory from David Knight (Honda) and Husaberg rider Alfredo Gomez of Spain. KTM rider Kornell Nemeth was fourth. Blazusiak’s day started well with a strong 10-lap qualifier in the afternoon in the Palau Sant Jordi Stadium over a course that riders said was slippery. KTM factory teammate Antoine Meo was second and Knight finished third. KTM’s Ivan Cervantes and Jonny Walker rounded off the top five.

Blazusiak, Cervantes and Meo set the pace and took the first three places in the opening of three finals but it was bad luck for Walker, the 22-year-old Extreme rider from the UK. Jonny got his hand tangled in a wheel when another rider crashed in front of him and he finished back at tenth.

The second final saw riders start in reverse order and ended with Taddy in third while Walker battled his way into fourth. This time it was Meo who crashed and while uninjured, he retired from the race and did not start in the last final.

Blazusiak wrapped up the evening with another strong performance in the third final with a comfortable win by a 5.4 second margin from Nemeth. Walker rallied and finished third, Knight was fourth and Cervantes, who has returned to the KTM Enduro Factory Team in 2013, was fifth. Walker, who specializes in Extreme Enduro starts in Hells Gate in Italy next weekend.
