Australian Matthew Phillips joined the KTM Enduro Factory Racing team in 2014 after an impressive debut in the EJ (Junior) class in 2013. He went on to record a first class 2014 season and sealed the E3 World Championship title. His strongest opponent throughout 2014 was his factory teammate, the Spanish veteran Ivan Cervantes. Cervantes finished second just nine points shy of Phillips' winning total.
The young Australian won six GPs in his first E3 season and apart from one DNF in Italy he was never off the podium at any event. Phillips will again contest the E3 class alongside Cervantes, which has proved to be a successful combination of youthful talent and experience.
Phillips, born in Tasmania and now resident in Bergamo, Italy's heartland of Enduro racing had his first race in 1999 at Pegs Beach, Tasmania. He first rode a KTM in 2010, he was Australian E2 champion in 2012 and national E3 champion in 2011.
