450 SMR:
SUPERIOR CHASSIS
FRAME
The new, ultra-lightweight chromoly frame with KTM shock absorber linkage has been developed for the extreme demands of the Motocross World Championship. Thanks to its modern design and wide tube profiles in the steering head area, this frame, in conjunction with the high-strength, die-cast aluminium swingarm, supplies an extremely high level of torsional stiffness, hence ensuring excellent tracking stability above all for Supermoto.
WP SUSPENSION
Together with the high quality, CNC-machined triple clamps (with adjustable offset), the 48mm upside-down forks from WP, featuring closed-cartridge technology, are in a league of their own. Both the fork and the WP monoshock have been specially tuned for Supermoto racing, guaranteeing sensitive responsiveness and reliable damping. At the front, new SKF seal rings and teflon-coated slide bushes further improve the sliding behaviour. A wide setup range for rebound and compression damping (there's even high-speed compression damping at the rear) allows individual adjustment of the chassis for the most diverse tracks.
READY FOR RACING
BRAKES
"Ready to Race" brake technology also makes the SMR unbeatable ahead of every curve: At the front, a radially bolted, four-piston fixed caliper from Magura takes a powerful grip on a floating 310 mm disc from Braking. In conjunction with a radial handbrake valve, the brake system guarantees maximum, but nevertheless controllable deceleration.

WHEELS
For maximum stability in curves and easy handling, the KTM engineers chose a 3.5 x 16.5" rim on the front wheel and 5.0 x 17" at the rear. The Dunlop slicks fitted as standard are renowned for outstandingly good grip.
EXHAUST
The extremely lightweight titanium exhaust header and the innovative "Header Pipe Resonator System“ (HPRS), in conjunction with the new silencer, guarantee even greater performance at further reduced noise levels.
PROFESSIONAL PERFORMANCE POTENTIAL
ENGINE
With a huge amount of innovative technology, KTM is clearly setting the standard in production Supermotos. The mighty DOHC 450 cc engine, which is brought to life with a compact electric starter, is equipped with a 5-speed transmission specially designed for Supermoto and an APTC anti-hopping clutch, providing everything you need as standard for landing on the very top of the podium.
CYLINDER HEAD
The 4 ultra-lightweight titanium valves are actuated by two overhead camshafts, in combination with DLC-coated rocker arms. This means an extremely wide rpm range, optimum engine-speed strength and plenty of power from the very bottom up.
ELECTRIC STARTER
Why use a kick-starter, when the bike can also be reliably started with the push of a button? A huge advantage when things get tough during the race. The small electric starter motor is located in the free space behind the cylinder head, and the battery takes up practically no space in the airbox.
TRANSMISSION
Specially designed for the demands of Supermoto racing, the transmission is equipped with five gears. The rider therefore always has the right gear at hand for every speed range.
CLUTCH
The APTC anti-hopping clutch precisely prevents the rear wheel from chattering, therefore improving control when drifting into curves. This design also significantly reduces the hand strength required to operate the hydraulic clutch. The Magura hydraulic system is completely maintenance-free and guarantees precise application with the minimum of effort.
