Ken Roczen joined the Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing Team at the beginning of the 2011 season. Already known as one of the world’s hottest MX2 properties, the talented teenager from Mattstedt / Thüringen in Germany set out to show the world of Motocross just what we was capable of riding the KTM 250 SX-F factory bike. The season, which ended in triumph for Roczen, will be remembered as a two-rider competition with Ken’s teammate Jeffrey Herlings being the only one to occasionally challenge his domination, particularly on sandy surfaces where the Dutch rider was very much on home terrain. Ken wrapped up the world championship season winning 8 of the 15 round GPs outright and taking second place on four occasions. With an amazing display of his fighting spirit, he vaulted back from a slight, two GP dip midseason to be unstoppable right up until he secured the world title at home in Germany at the GP of Europe with the final round still in hand. With the title in his pocket, he had fun in the last round in Fermo, Italy, taking the KTM 125 out to contest the MX2 class.
In 2011, Ken also rode selected races in the AMA SX Lites (West Coast) competition for the Red Bull KTM factory team in the USA under the leadership of Roger DeCoster. Despite cross Atlantic travel he still managed to take his first SX Lites podium at Anaheim 2, where he finished third and secured his first SX Lites victory in Las Vegas at the close of the season. In 2012 Ken raced full-time in the USA for the Red Bull KTM Factory Team adding a few more wins to his belt.
For the 2013 season, Ken will contest the West 250SX Supercross class where his main goal is to secure his first US title before returning to the outdoor series. In addition to his 250 class endeavors, Ken will also race the KTM 350 SX-F in the 450SX Supercross class at Daytona Speedway.
Ken, who was born in 1994, set about amassing an impressive range of titles after receiving his first ever 50 cc bike for Christmas in 1996. He began his racing career the following year. Since then, he has collected a staggering list of junior and national championship titles before winning the MX2 title in his first year on the KTM 250 factory bike.Ken's facebook
