RED BULL MOTOGP™ ROOKIES CUP: FUTURE CHAMPIONS WANTED

published at 08.08.2012 / created by Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup (Peter Clifford)

Get on the best bike, in the world's best young rider championship.

With the unveiling of KTM's Moto3 machine for the the 2013 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup a new chapter in the greatest series for teenage racers has been opened.

The partnership between Red Bull, Dorna, KTM, Ipone and Alpinestars that has developed the Rookies Cup since 2007 now takes another step forward with the move to 4-stroke Moto3 machinery for the 2013 season. Created as a twin to KTM's 2013 factory Moto3 machine the Rookies KTM 250 RBR will prepare riders perfectly for the step into Grand Prix racing.

Graduating Rookies have firmly established themselves on the Grand Prix leaderboard with the likes of Danny Kent, Luis Salom, Jakub Kornfeil and Arthur Sissis fighting for glory every weekend. Ex Rookies Cup Champion Johann Zarco recorded four pole positions and eleven podiums including a win in the 125 GP category before stepping up to Moto2 for 2012. The competition to follow in their footsteps has never been hotter with Florian Alt, Scott Deroue and Phillip Oettl leading this year's charge with five races remaining.

The online application system is open for the 2013 Cup: www.redbullrookiescup.com/join

Reading the rules and filling in the form are simple first steps to join the Road to Rookies Cup and the trail to World Championship success. All those born between January 1st, 1996 and March 31st, 2000 with high performance motorcycle experience are eligible. The best of the Applicants will be invited to a Selection Event later this year and from there a small number will be invited to join the Rookies Cup for 2013.

The Rookies have to bring a mechanic helper to all the events and they have to cover the travel and hotel costs themselves but inside the circuit the launch pad to a Grand Prix career is there to be taken. The Rookies have to walk in, carrying with them their helmet, skill, determination and a capacity for hard work.
