TADDY BLAZUSIAK TALKS ABOUT THE KTM 350 SX-F AND WINNING THE X-GAMES GOLD
KTM’s Extreme Enduro maestro Taddy Blazusiak has just won the inaugural gold medal at the X-Games in Los Angeles and as a 5-times Erzberg Hare Scramble winner he knows a bit about going where no one dares to ride. For the X-Games, which is also the first event in the Endurocross World Championship, KTM’s Polish factory rider switched to the KTM 350 SX-F 4-stroke. KTM Racing News caught up with Taddy and asked him for some impressions of his new, lean mean racing machine.
This is what he told us:
KTM Racing News: When did you first ride the KTM 350 SX-F?
Taddy: “I raced this bike for the first time in the final of the Austrian Cross Country in Mattighofen last year – and by the way, I won!”
KTM RN: What were your first impressions? Did you like it straight away or did you need time to get used to it? Where did you first ride it and what were the conditions?
Taddy: “Yes I liked it straight away, right from the beginning. It was on the track just near the KTM factory in Mattighofen and it was a wet day!”
KTM RN: When you are racing Endurocross, what are the main differences between riding the 2- and the 4-stroke bike?
Taddy: “The 4-stroke is faster - if you don’t make any mistakes. The 2- stroke is easier to recover from mistakes.”
KTM RN: Will you continue to ride the 350 for all the Endurocross events in 2011?
Taddy: “Yes, for me it's the 350 SX-F all the way to the finals in Vegas!”
KTM RN: What was it like to ride in the X-Games and to win the first-ever gold medal in Endurocross?
Taddy: “This was an unreal experience. I have to say the X-Games are HUGE in the USA but my approach to the event was exactly the same as all other Endurocross races.”
KTM RN: Do you have a favorite 'other venue" for Endurocross?
Taddy: “Yes, Oklahoma and Genova, both because the tracks are big and fast just the way I like it.”
KTM RN: Thanks Taddy, congratulations on winning the gold medal and have a great season!
