SUPERENDURO: IMPRESSIVE FINISH TO 2014 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP FROM WALKER
Third in the final standings for the Briton on his KTM EXC
Jonny Walker has brought his participation in the 2014 FIM SuperEnduro World Championship to a successful close, claiming a runner-up overall result at the final round of the series in Tours, France. Also claiming the win in the night’s second Prestige class final, Walker secured a strong third place overall result in the championship’s final standings.
Confident of a good result following a third place overall result at the penultimate round of the series in Barcelona, Walker started as he intended to go on in Tours by topping the qualifying ‘Superpole’ session. Third in the opening race the KTM Enduro Factory Racing team rider secured the race win in final #2 following a late race pass on the newly crowned SuperEnduro World Champion Taddy Blazusiak.
Topping off what was a great night for the British youngster Jonny claimed the runner-up result in the third and final Prestige class race.
With the SuperEnduro World Championship now over Walker will turn his attentions full-time to Hard Enduro.
Jonny Walker: “Things have steadily improved throughout the championship and although I was a little disappointed with the way it started, I’m really pleased with the way it’s finished. Everyone knows just how hard Taddy is to beat, but I feel like I’ve made some serious improvements in the last three races – to beat him here at the final round is great. My speed has been better, my starts have been better, and my consistency has been better during the second half of the season. There are still areas where I know I can improve, but I have been improving, and that’s the most important thing. To win the second final was great. I felt like I really rode well, when I saw an opportunity I went for it. Second overall is also a really good result, and a nice way to end the series.”
