PODIUM RESULTS FOR KTM UK RIDERS AT NATTERJACK BEC
KTM UK riders Jonny Walker and Tom Sagar on flying form at round five of the British Enduro Championship at the Natterjack, Hampshire.
Marking the penultimate round of the 2013 BEC season, KTM UK backed riders Jonny Walker and Tom Sagar delivered solid performances in the Natterjack sands to place second and third overall in the championship class.
Fresh off his recent trip to the final round of the Enduro World Championship in France, Walker impressed all with his speed and determination to end his weekend as runner-up to event winner Jamie McCanney. Switching back to his KTM 300 EXC, the Hard Enduro expert immediately placed himself at the sharp end of the results. Performing well on the deep sandy cross test and excelling on the technically demanding forestry based enduro test, Walker claimed a well deserved runner-up result both days.
Despite nursing the effects of a recently injured hand, championship leader Tom Sagar delivered a gritted performance. A firm favourite of the rough, sandy terrain, Sagar pushed hard to limit the damage to his points lead. Placing a comfortable third overall on day one, the Welshman upped his pace on day two. Matching the pace set by both McCanney and Walker, Sagar fought hard to improve his position. Ending day two just 11 seconds adrift of Walker, Sagar had to be content with the third step of the podium.
Continuing to impress in only his debut season in the Championship class, Devon based youngster Steve Holcombe, ended day one in fifth before slipping back to sixth overall on day two. Holcombe also placed as runner-up in the Enduro 1 category both days. Securing top ten results, Daryl Bolter and Mark Roberts finished seventh and eighth respectively both days. Making the long trip from Scotland worthwhile, Frazer Norrie ended his weekend with a 10-10 scorecard.
In the highly competitive Expert class the battle for the victory was fought out between Ryan McLean and Brad Freeman. Edging out his rival by just 12 seconds, Freeman secured victory on day one. Trading places on day two, McLean took the win, pushing Freeman back to second.
Ending day one as runner-up, Jack Staines improved one position to win the Clubman class on day two, while Derek Little claimed a double win in the Veterans class.
The 2013 British Enduro Championship concludes with the sixth and final round at the Diss Enduro on November 24th.
