KNIGHT SECURES DOUBLE WIN AT BEC OPENER

KTM Enduro Factory team rider David Knight has claimed a double event win at the opening round of the 2012 British Enduro Championship
Despite less than favourable weather conditions the Manxman made light work of the challenging course and special tests to win each day comfortably.
Winning all of the event’s special tests Knight never looked like doing anything other that winning, and in placing one-and-a-half minutes ahead of his closest rival on day one and close to one-minute ahead on day two he takes an early lead in the 2012 BEC series.
Knight certainly wasn’t alone in securing impressive results for KTM as no fewer than five of the overall top 10 riders were mounted on Austrian machinery on day one. With Knight comfortably topping the Enduro 3 class, Daryl Bolter placed fourth in the Enduro 2 category where he placed ahead of Edward Jones and Ashley Wood. For Jones, now retired from full-time enduro competition, placing ninth overall was a highly creditable result.
Day two saw little changes at the top of the Championship class results. With conditions again tough Knight dominated the proceedings with Jones improving to a solid seventh overall and fourth in the Enduro 2 class. Ashley Wood followed him home in fifth with Bolter eighth.
David Knight: “It’s been a good start for the championship for me, although I think like everyone I could have done without the horrible weather conditions. It was a good ride though, not too long with plenty of time at the checks and the tests were really good. It’s a great start to the championship for me, I’m very pleased to get the double win.”
