KTM UK RIDERS READY FOR ISDE IN SARDINIA
KTM UK riders Tom Sagar, Daryl Bolter and Steve Holcombe are set to represent Great Britain at the International Six Days Enduro in Olbia, Sardinia. The trio will form an integral part of Great Britain’s team as they compete in the 88th edition of the ISDE – the FIM’s longest running off-road motorcycle competition.
Both experienced competitors in the ISDE, Sagar and Bolter will compete for Britain on the World Trophy team. Securing a Gold medal at the Sachsenring, Germany in 2012, Sagar will be hoping to repeat that result this time around in Olbia. Now recovered from his recent hand injury, Sagar – the point’s leader of the British Enduro Championship – will be hoping to deliver a solid performance and help the team to a coveted top five result.
Returning to the ISDE following a five-year absence, Bolter will take his place on the British World Trophy team. Aiming for his fourth Gold medal – but his first with KTM – Bolter also has his sights set on top result in Sardinia.
Despite being one of the most inexperienced members of the GB ISDE team, Steve Holcombe is certainly capable of turning heads in Italy. Making his debut appearance on the Junior World Trophy team in 2012, he helped steer the four-rider squad to second overall. Now a year faster, stronger and more experienced, Holcombe – like his teammates – has his sights set on fighting for victory.
Tom Sagar (Colwyn Bay KTM UK): "I'm really pleased to have been selected for the British team. I'm really happy to be going to the ISDE on a bike that I'm riding well and a bike that has given me such good results in previous years. I would like to thank Colwyn Bay KTM UK for there continued support and especially in providing me with a 2014 450cc bike for the race. I'm hoping that the team are going to be able to do well and I hope that I myself can produce a good result. I would like to finish top ten in class and of course be on another gold medal to make it my seventh.”
Daryl Bolter (Crescent KTM Enduro): “I’m looking forward to racing the ISDE this year. It’s been a couple of years since I last rode one – Greece in 2008 – so it feels good to be preparing for a race like this again. In total this will be my fourth ISDE but actually my first time competing in one on a KTM. Personally, that’s a lot of the reasoning for wanting to return. If this is my last ISDE I’d like to finish it off with a Gold medal on a KTM.”
Steve Holcombe (Crescent KTM Enduro): “In 2012 we ended the race as runner-up to France so obviously the goal is to equal or better that result. With the strength of the team, winning the Junior World Trophy team competition isn’t out of the equation. As a team we work well together and individually our riding abilities match the very best in the world. I feel like my riding has greatly improved during the last year. The 250f really suits my riding style and I love riding it so I’m looking forward to spending a week racing it in Sardinia. It would be incredible if we could take home the winner’s trophy.”
The 88th edition of the ISDE takes place in Olbia, Sardinia from September 30 – October 5.
