BRITISH MOTOSTAR: IRVING JOINS REDLINE KTM UK
Joe Irving will spearhead Redline Motorcycles campaign to win the Motostar British Championship on the KTM RC 250 R
British KTM dealer Redline Motorcycles will field Joe Irving in the 2014 Motostar British Championship.
The 17-year old from Holmfirth had an impressive 2013 season riding a KTM RC 250 R for a rival team in the UK’s Moto3 class, taking two wins and finishing on the podium in nine of the 12 rounds to finish third overall.
‘Joe Toad’, as he’s also known, joins the Loughborough-based KTM dealer’s experienced race team that has fielded Tarran Mackenzie for the past two seasons on orange bikes, finishing second overall in the 2013 championship.
To go one better for Redline in 2014, Irving will have at his disposal the highest specification version of the 250cc four-stroke Production Racer offered by KTM Racing and will be supported by KTM UK.
Joe Irving said on the agreement, “I’m very happy to join Redline Motorcycles for the 2014 season and I know that Tim and the team will provide me with the very best machine available. I’ve had a season on the KTM and finished the 2013 season on a real high. I can’t wait for Brands Hatch to come around in April!”
Redline Motorcycles owner, Tim Walker, said: “Joe had a very strong 2013 season and without the two DNFs he could have been in a very different situation at the end of the year. He knows the RC 250 R well and comes into the 2014 season confident having won the final race at Brands Hatch. Redline will provide the best machinery available and we’re confident Joe is capable of the results.”
The 12 round British Motostar Championship begins on April 21 at Brands Hatch and will be broadcast on British Eurosport.
