The KTM Marchetti Racing team has signed with Slovenian rider Tim Gajser to compete for them in the EMX2 European Championship. The sixteen year-old Gajser, one of Europe’s most promising young riders, is the reigning World Champion in the 125 cc class and 125 cc European Champion.
The agreement with the team was finalized and signed at KTM headquarters in Mattighofen, Austria in the presence of Pit Beirer, Head of KTM Motorsport.
KTM Marchetti, which since 2012 has competed in the MX1 and MX2 World Motocross Championships, adds Gajser to their racing stable, which also includes Italians Davide Guarneri in MX1 and young Giacomo Del Segato in MX2. Gajser will ride the KTM 250 SX-F in the EMX2 European Championship.
Elio Marchetti, Marchetti KTM Team Manager: “We are a young team that includes a top rider like Guarneri but we are open to thinking about the future and to give a young talent a chance to grow. For this reason we are happy to sign a talent like Tim,” he confirmed. “This is an important step for us that would not have been possible without the direct involvement of KTM and Red Bull. I'm sure Tim will do well in the European EMX2 Championship.”
Marchetti also confirmed that Gajser would also start as a wild card entry in some of the MX2 World Championship GPs. “Tim is already with us in Italy, and during the week we have scheduled the first test to develop and set up the bike and to carry out suspension tests with WP technicians.”
