1190 RC8 R RACE SPEC: FOR RACETRACK USE ONLY
ONE OF THE WORLD'S MOST POWERFUL V2S
ENGINE
With its 132 kW (177 hp) of power, the V2 on the RC8 R can be considered as the measure of all things for ultra-sporty twins, with maximum performance, predictable characteristics and high reliability. The KTM engine impresses with an extremely broad rev range and spontaneous throttle response, while supplying supreme ride quality.
Akrapovic titanium EVO 4 exhaust system for optimized torque and power progression, plus a weight saving of almost six kilograms.
CYLINDER HEAD
The main reasons for the outstanding performance of the RC8 R Race Spec's V-twin with 75° cylinder angle are the ultra-modern cylinder heads with flow-optimized ports and cam follower drive, each with two overhead camshafts for four valves. Valve timing is adjustable via the camshaft gears.

INJECTION / ENGINE MANAGEMENT
The electronic Keihin engine management system with twin throttle valves regulates the modern electronic fuel injection system on the RC8 R Race Spec, focusing on maximum power with predictable engine characteristics and spontaneous responsiveness with controllable throttle response.
PISTONS
The forged piston structure on the RC8 R Race Spec, borrowed from Formula 1, results in a high piston loading capacity, despite the extremely short and lightweight design. In this way, the reciprocating weight can be minimized and the responsiveness and free-revving nature of the engine maximized.
ONE THE WORLD'S BEST CHASSIS
FRAME
The RC8 R Race Spec's thin-walled, 7.3 kg (16.1 lb.) lightweight tubular space frame made from high-strength chrome-molybdenum steel sets standards in dimensional stability and lightweight construction. Its optimal stiffness distribution results in fantastic precision and unparalleled stability.
SWINGARM
The intricately made light alloy swingarm makes a significant contribution to the outstanding traction of the RC8 R Race Spec. The position of the swingarm can be adjusted by means of an eccentric adjustment on the lever linkage. In this way, compression can be minimized and squatting prevented when accelerating out of corners.
LINKAGE
The progressiveness of the linkage provides the shock absorber with refined responsiveness yet still has sufficient reserves to handle peak loads. The position of the swingarm can be adjusted to the rider's style and weight using the eccentric adjuster which is easily accessible on the linkage, which can help prevent squatting during acceleration.
TELESCOPIC FORK
Adjustable in spring preload as well as rebound and compression damping, the setup ranges on the RC8 R Race Spec's high-quality WP upside-down forks allow adaptation to all track and weather conditions. A WP steering damper keeps the forks on track, even in extreme conditions.
SHOCK ABSORBER
The RC8 R Race Spec's 46/18-WP Race shock absorber has already celebrated race victories in the IDM Superbike championship. It provides all the setting options and enormous potential of a genuine racing shock absorber.
BRAKES
The RC8 R Race Spec's brake system with highest-quality Brembo® components functions perfectly, sensitively and steadily, thanks to racing brake pads, even under toughest conditions. At the front two radially-mounted, four-piston brake calipers and two 320 mm (12.6 in) and 5 mm (0.2 in) thick, semi-floating brake rotors provide massive stopping power.
WHEELS AND TIRES
Super-light Marchesini forged aluminum wheels make the RC8 R Race Spec's handling more responsive. The suspension, grip and, of course, lap times benefit from these expensive and prestigious parts. Completely in keeping with the species, the Race Spec is equipped with ultra-grippy slicks — for the pursuit of personal lap records.
CENTRALIZATION OF MASSES
Fully fuelled, the RC8 R Race Spec weighs little more than 180 kg (397 lb.). Its silencer is positioned underneath the engine not only for a more favorable center of gravity, but also to minimize crash damage and improve the aerodynamics. The result: easy handling and razor-sharp precision.
PERFECT COORDINATION AND ERGONOMICS
SETTING OPTIONS
The RC8 R Race Spec offers all the options required for ergonomic adjustment of a racing vehicle to its rider: It is supplied with a racing seat and a multiple-adjustment racing footpeg system. As on the series production bike, the handlebar can be mounted at two heights and two angles, as well as the subframe at two heights.
