KTM’s Bobby Prochnau unbeaten in Canadian Enduro Championships
We are now four rounds into the 2012 Canadian Enduro Championships (CEC), and RTR Performance KTM’s Bobby Prochnau has yet to lose a single race!
Following his fifth-place finish in the XC-1 class at the Snowshoe GNCC in June (Prochnau’s first ever GNCC), it was clear the defending Canadian Enduro champ was ready to race. At Rounds 1 & 2 in Vernon, BC, Prochnau battled through heat and humidity (and a 50 km course!) to win every single test in E2 Pro. Rounds 3 & 4 in Blairmore, AB would be more of the same, with Prochnau winning both days and extending his Championship points lead.
If Prochnau keeps this ball rolling, he should seal up his third National title in four years (he missed the 2010 series due to injury). Of course, the series is far from over and you can bet everyone is using a break in the schedule to find that extra speed.
The CEC resumes September 2 in Ormstown, QC, before wrapping up September 9 at Moto Park in Owen Sound, ON. Both rounds feature a cross-country format, instead of Enduro, offering fans a great opportunity to watch Canada’s best off-road riders compete head-to-head.
“It’s been a great year for KTM riders, and we’re proud to have so many fast, young and hard working talents riding Orange,” says KTM Canada Race Manager, Andy White. “Prochnau is a contender no matter where he goes, Canada or the US, Chantelle Bykerk, Shelby Turner and Lexi Pechout are setting new standards in women’s off-road, and then we have young guns like Josh Long and Loic Leonard winning races in Ontario and Quebec. There’s a good mix of personalities and backgrounds with our riders, and each region has a guy or girl they can look up to.”
With two rounds to go, KTM riders are leading five out of 10 classes in the CEC (and Prochnau leads the Pro Overall):
E2 Pro – Bobby Prochnau
Vet Pro – Mark Cahill
B Intermediate – Wyatt Hart
C Novice – Trent Riviere
Women – Chantelle Bykerk
