Eric Nye and KTM podiums in the Dunes!

CMRC MX Pro National: 5th round, Gopher Dunes, ON, July 19th, 2009

After a 2 week break in the CMRC MX Pro National schedule Team KTM loaded up the race hauler and arrived in Courtland, Ontario for the 5th round. The famous Gopher Dunes racetrack is arguably the roughest Motocross sand track in the Country and it takes a total team effort to be successful. In the MX1 class, Royal Distributing Thor KTM riders rode very well starting with Jeff Northop, who just missed taking both Holeshots on his factory prepared KTM 450 SX-F taking 6th overall with his 5-7 moto scores. His teammate Mason Phillips (KTM 450 SX-F) unfortunately had a bad crash in qualifying and was forced to the sidelines with an injury. The #43 of Ryan Millar (KTM 450 SX-F) had a good result finishing with a 15th place overall.
In the MX2 class, the 2008 defending champion Eric Nye (KTM 250 SX-F) was eager to attack the deep rough sand and laid down the 2nd fastest qualifying time. Nye got top 5 starts in both motos and methodically picked his way through the pack getting around lappers enroute to a 2nd overall with 3-2 moto scores. Royal Distributing Thor KTM rider, Kyle McGlynn (KTM 250 SX-F) made his Gopher Dunes debut.  McGlynn showed he was in top shape and was running in 2nd place for moto 1 until a slight get off allowed his competitors to move by. Not one to give up Kyle motored his way back to 9th place in moto 1 and scored a 4th in moto two yielding another top 5 place overall.

RTR Performance / OMS KTM riders were all in attendance for the gopher Dunes National. MX2 contender Kerim Fitz-Gerald rode a strong race and battled hard all day. He ended the day in 6th position overall with 4-9 moto results. MX1 RTR Performance / OMS / Troy Lee Designs team member Kornél Németh had fantastic results despite 2 first turn crashes forcing him to ride to the front of the pack from dead last. Running a KTM 450 SX-F the #108 rode the ultra rough Gopher track in his own unique style ending up 2nd overall with 2-3 moto scores. Teammate Liam O'Farrell had his best finish of the season placing his RTR Performance / OMS / Troy Lee Designs KTM 450 SX-F in 4th place overall.
