| E1 class clean sweep for KTM |
| KTM wrap-up E1 two-stroke and four-stroke championships at BEC final. |

Premier Bikes KTM rider Daryl Bolter has claimed the ’09 British Enduro Championship Enduro 1 four-stroke title, which added to the Enduro 1 two-stroke championship already won by ET James KTM rider Edward Jones at the penultimate round of the BEC series makes it an Enduro 1 class clean sweep for KTM.
Battling against Mounter M/C’s KTM rider Greg Evans for the E1 four-stroke title Bolter comfortably topped the class on day one aboard his 250 EXC-F, as well as placing a creditable fourth overall at the season ending Natterjack Enduro. Although forced to retire early on day two Bolter’s had done enough to join David Knight (E2 and Overall), Ed Jones (E1 two-stroke) and Jamie Paget (E3) as a ’09 British Enduro Champion.
Narrowly missing out on a third place overall finish on day one, a mistake by Bolter during the closing stages of the first day resulted in him finishing fourth, three places up on KTM team-mate Greg Evans. With Greg making a promising start to the day a costly mistake on the second enduro test dropped him down the overall results, eventually placing seventh.
With Bolter sidelined on day two Greg took over the top spot in the E1 four-stroke class, while Edward Jones continued his domination of the E1 two-stroke category. Evans matched his day one result of seventh overall and placing as the highest finishing E1 class rider secured the runner-up spot behind Bolter in the E1 four-storke class. Ed Jones once again topped the E1 two-stroke class and finished ninth overall.
Daryl Bolter: “It was a strange weekend for me. Obviously, the most important thing for me, and the team, is that I secured the Enduro 1 British championship title. I’m also really pleased that I was able to finish fourth overall on day one behind three WEC regulars on bigger capacity bikes. It took me a little while to get used to having a trials tyre fitted to my bike, but my problem at the start of day one was that I was too cautious - I was thinking about the E1 championship too much. I went for it a bit more during the second half of the day, and started to ride better. I made a mistake on the very last test, which probably stopped me from getting third overall, but I was happy with the day. The second day ended before it had begun really. I knew early on that something wasn’t right with my gearbox, so I stopped rather than doing any damage. It’s disappointing not finishing the second day but winning the E1 four-stroke championship more than makes up for it.”
Greg Evans: “The first day wasn’t the best for me really. It started ok but I failed to get up the big stone wall at the start of the enduro test and things went down hill from there really. It was a tough old day, too. It’s hard to be competitive in the overall results at the Natterjack because of the deep sand, but seventh overall wasn’t too bad on day one. The second day was better. It’s a shame Daryl was unable to finish but I managed to top the E1 class, which is a very positive end to the season.”
