E2 final round without injured world champion Johnny Aubert
Johnny Aubert, the freshly crowned E2 World Champion from the KTM Enduro Factory Racing Team was missing from the line-up in the final round at St. Flour, France after being forced to withdraw in the early stages of Saturday’s race because of discomfort from injuries in Serres, Greece.
While Aubert wraps up the season with three blanks on his scorecard as a result of his injury, he was unquestionably the most outstanding rider in the E2 class in 2009. He was unbeatable in the first 14 rounds and had no trouble retaining his 2008 title. The former MX rider and proven all rounder was a welcome addition to the KTM Enduro Factory Team at the beginning of the 2009 season and conquered with seeming ease any terrain and any weather that was put in front of him. Aubert’s title already gave the factory team a reason to celebrate in Greece, an opportunity that was repeated with classic orange zest when teammate Ivan Cervantes won the E3 title on Saturday with one race still in hand.

The team’s second E2 rider Italian Alessandro Belometti wound up his season with an eighth position on both Saturday and Sunday to wrap up his appearance for the factory team. He finished the season with 211 championship points and at seventh in the standings.

Aubert’s stunning season also laid the groundwork for KTM to take the Manufacturer’s World championship title in this class.
